To begin making Apple Pear Dump Cake I sprayed a 9″ x 13″ pan with cooking spray.

Next I opened a can of pears and reserved the juice.  My can was peach halves so I sliced them up before spreading them evenly in the prepared baking pan.

Then I spread a can of apple pie filling on top of the sliced pears.  I also poured 1/2 cup of the reserved pear juice over top of the pie filling.

I sprinkled some dried cranberries on top of the apple pie filling.

Then I opened up a gluten free yellow cake mix.

Next I put the gluten free yellow cake mix on top of the ingredients in the baking pan and spread it out evenly.

I thinly sliced up some butter.

Then I covered the cake mix with the slices of butter.

Once the cake was covered in butter I warmed some caramel sauce in the microwave.

Then I drizzled the warm caramel sauce on top of the butter.

Next I baked the cake in a preheated 350F oven for 50 – 55  minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake came out clean.

After removing the cake from the oven I allowed it to cool for a few minutes before serving.

FAQS:

What should I serve with apple pear dump cake?

Apple pear dump cake is warm, fruity, and caramel-rich — so it pairs beautifully with simple, creamy, or slightly salty additions that balance the sweetness.

Here are some delicious serving ideas:

Vanilla Ice Cream
A scoop of classic vanilla ice cream slowly melting into the warm fruit and buttery topping is hard to beat. The cold, creamy contrast makes every bite dreamy.

Fresh Whipped Cream
Lightly sweetened whipped cream keeps things soft and fluffy without overpowering the caramel and fruit.

Salted Caramel Ice Cream
If you want to lean into the caramel notes, salted caramel ice cream adds a sweet-salty twist that enhances the cranberries.

Mascarpone or Cream Cheese Whip
Whip mascarpone or cream cheese with a touch of maple syrup for a slightly tangy, rich topping that complements the apples and pears.

☕ Hot Coffee or Espresso
The slight bitterness of coffee balances the sweetness of the cake beautifully.

Chai Tea or Spiced Tea
Warm spices pair naturally with apple and pear flavors, making this a cozy fall combination.

Caramel Sauce & Toasted Nuts
A drizzle of extra caramel and a sprinkle of toasted pecans or walnuts add crunch and richness.

Cinnamon Ice Cream
If you want to amplify the cozy vibes, cinnamon ice cream highlights the apple pie filling spices perfectly.

If you’re serving this for a gathering, warm cake + vanilla ice cream is the safest crowd-pleasing option. If it’s for a holiday dinner, the mascarpone whip feels a little extra special.

How do I store apple pear dump cake?

Here’s how to store your apple pear dump cake so it stays fresh and delicious:

Room Temperature (Short Term)
If you’ll be serving it within a few hours, you can loosely cover the baking dish with foil and leave it at room temperature. Because it contains fruit and butter, don’t leave it out longer than about 4 hours.

Refrigerator (Best Option)
Once fully cooled, cover the dish tightly with plastic wrap or foil and store it in the refrigerator. It will keep well for 3–4 days. The fruit layer stays moist, and the topping softens slightly but remains flavorful.

Freezer (Longer Storage)
You can freeze it for up to 2–3 months. Let it cool completely, then wrap tightly in plastic wrap and a layer of foil, or transfer to an airtight container. Thaw overnight in the fridge before reheating.

Reheating Tips
Warm individual portions in the microwave for 30–60 seconds.
For a slightly crispier topping, reheat in a 300–325°F oven until warmed through.
