The first step to make Orange Jello Mold is to dump the contents of two boxes of orange flavoured jello powder into a large mixing bowl.

I then poured in 2 cups of boiling water and stirred until all the jello powder dissolved.

Now I opened up a can of mandarin orange segments and drained off the liquid.

Using a sharp knife I cut the segments into smaller sections right inside the can.

Next I dumped the mandarin orange pieces into the jello.

I then set the bowl in the fridge for about an hour and 20 minutes until it was almost set.

After removing it from the fridge I added a tub of Cool Whip to the bowl.

I used a rubber spatula to fold the Cool Whip into the jello.

I sprayed the jello mold with cooking spray before I scraped in the Cool Whip mixture.

Now I put the lid on and returned it to the fridge.  Leave it to set for a couple of hours at least.  The good thing about this mold is that it can be prepared a day ahead.

Just before dinner was served I removed the lid.

Next I inverted the mold onto a serving plate.

Remove the center piece of the mold and the jello will release from the mold onto the plate.

I removed the container and set the Orange Jello Mold on the dinner table for everyone to enjoy with their holiday meal!

Hi, can I use something other than cool whip? Example, whipping cream?

Hi Ruth, I just watched a video on youtube where they made the same dessert with whipping cream. Not sure if the texture would be exactly the same but it looked good! Let us know if you try it! Hope this helps, Kathleen

Use about 1\3 less water to help keep it from getting watery. Also blend the cool whip just as the jello is starting to thicken. For cold water I like to add orange juice for extra flavor.

I make this all the time, but just keep it in a bowl in the fridge. My problem is that it gets so watery after a few days. Any suggestions as to why? I drain the fruit really good too.

Hi, I found that too. This time I put it in the freezer and then took it back out when we wanted to finish it.
