The first step is to peel, core and slice up the apples to make about 4 cups in a microwave safe bowl.
I used a glass measuring cup.
Now I added some water and sugar before I sprinkled some cinnamon on top of the apples.
Then I covered the measuring cup with wax paper before placing it in the microwave on high for 7 to 9 minutes.
My microwave is 1200 watts.
I removed the apple sauce from the microwave at the midway point of cooking and gave it a quick stir.
Then I covered it with wax paper again and returned it to the microwave for the remainder of the cook time.
After the 9 minutes were up I removed the apple sauce from the microwave and stirred it again.
Then I used a potato masher to create the chunky apple sauce.
The consistency of the apple sauce is up to you and may depend on what you are using it for.
Chunky Apple Sauce is a fresh, flavourful treat any time of the year.
It is one way for us to use up apples as they ripen on our trees!
This bowl of fruity goodness is tasty warm or cold and can be used immediately or preserved!
