To start making Instant Pot Chunky Apple Sauce, I peeled and sliced enough apples to measure 8 cups.
Then I put some hot water in my Instant Pot before dumping in the sliced apples.
Next I sprinkled some granulated sugar and some ground cinnamon over the apples in the Pot. I did not stir.
I placed the lid on the Instant Pot, turned the steam release handle to the sealing position and set the Instant Pot to Pressure Cook High for 2 minutes.
Once the Instant Pot was done cooking, I immediately turned the steam release handle to the venting position and finished with a Quick Release.
After removing the lid I used a potato masher to mash the apples to my desired consistency.
How chunky you leave it will depend on personal preference.
Serve up some fresh Instant Pot Chunky Apple Sauce any time of the year as a dessert or sauce for your favourite pork dish.
It can be enjoyed warm or cold.

I used gravenstein apples which are supposed to be good apples for applesauce. I think 2 minutes must have been too long for it to cook. I’ll try 1 minute tomorrow and maybe it will be more chunky?

Hi Monica, I am not a canner but don't know why it couldn't be transferred to jars as soon as cooked. Will leave this here to see if some canners can help you out... Take care, Kathleen

Smelled amazing while cooking and I'm hoping it will taste good, but I currently have a soupy mess. Will have to drain off most of the water.

Hi Sg, The cook time says 2 minutes...the apples will also be cooking while the Instant Pot is coming to pressure. Take care, Kathleen

Thank you for this easy recipe! Fist time I ever made applesauce. Tasted great! Only trouble I had was the instant pot spewing Apple cinnamon water EVERY WHERE! I will make sure in the future to cover the vent before venting steam.

Hi Marya, I am so glad you enjoyed the recipe. You can do a controlled release and that means you just open the vent a bit at a time. I think Instant Pot discourages you from covering the vent.... Thank you, Kathleen
