To begin making Chocolate Pecan Pie I thawed a prepared pie shell. You could also make your own pastry using this Gluten Free Pastry recipe.
Then I melted a bit of butter on low in the microwave.
I prepared the topping by beating some eggs, granulated sugar, corn syrup, maple syrup, corn starch, cocoa and the melted butter together in a mixing bowl.
Then I stirred in some semi-sweet chocolate chips and some chopped pecans.
Next I poured the topping into the thawed pie shell.
I pushed some whole pecans down into the filling a bit.
I covered the crust with a pie guard to keep it from browning too much.
Then I put the pie in the oven, on the middle rack, for 50 – 60 minutes, or until the topping was set and golden brown.
After removing the pie from the oven I removed the pie guard.
I allowed the pie to cool completely so that it would be set when I cut into it.
Once completely cooled, I sliced the pie into seven pieces. You can cut the pie up to suit your own needs and situation.
Chocolate Pecan Pie is a decadent dessert and you will receive rave reviews from young and old alike.
Enjoy every tasty bite of this decadent dessert!

FAQS:
What should I serve with chocolate pecan pie?
Chocolate pecan pie is a rich and decadent dessert, so it’s good to pair it with something that complements its flavors without overpowering them. Here are some ideas:
- Whipped Cream: A dollop of freshly whipped cream is a classic accompaniment to pecan pie. Its light and airy texture balances out the richness of the pie.
- Vanilla Ice Cream: Serving a scoop of vanilla ice cream alongside your pie adds a creamy contrast to the crunchy texture of the pecans and the gooey chocolate filling.
- Coffee or Espresso: The bitterness of coffee or espresso can help cut through the sweetness of the pie, making it a perfect pairing.
- Fresh Berries: If you want to add a fruity element, consider serving the pie with a side of fresh berries such as raspberries or strawberries. Their tartness can balance out the sweetness of the pie.
- Caramel Sauce: Drizzling some warm caramel sauce over the pie or serving it on the side can enhance the flavors of both the chocolate and the pecans.
- Sea Salt: A sprinkle of flaky sea salt on top of the pie can intensify the flavors and add a nice contrast to the sweetness.
- Chantilly Cream: This is a flavored whipped cream, often sweetened and flavored with vanilla or other extracts. It adds an extra layer of flavor to the pie.
Choose one or a combination of these options based on your personal preferences and what you think will complement the flavors of your chocolate pecan pie the best.
