To begin making Seafood Quiche I opened up my Wholly brand gluten free pie shell and preheated the oven to 350F.

You could also make your own Gluten Free Pastry.

Next I chopped up some green onion and celery.

I also cut up some swiss cheese slices.  You could grate it from a block of swiss cheese as well.

I whisked together some Miracle Whip, Bob’s Red Mill 1 to 1 Gluten Free Baking Flour, large eggs and some apple juice.  You could use some white wine instead of the juice if you prefer.

After whisking the egg mixture I added in some canned crab meat and canned shrimp.

Then stirred in the cut up vegetables and swiss cheese.

Once all the ingredients were well combined I poured the mixture into the unbaked pie shell.

Then I placed the quiche into the preheated 350F oven for 35 to 40 minutes.

I removed the Seafood Quiche from the oven once it started to brown and the center was set.

Celery and green onions provide the perfect contrast of taste and textures for this dish.

Every slice is loaded with crab meat, shrimp and melted swiss cheese.

This easy recipe is a great addition to any weekly meal rotation or as a Sunday brunch option.

Savour every mouthful of Seafood Quiche.

What should I serve with seafood quiche?

When serving a seafood quiche, you’ll want to choose side dishes that complement the flavors of the quiche and enhance the overall dining experience. Here are some delicious and suitable options:

  1. Green Salad: A fresh green salad with mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, avocado slices, and a light vinaigrette dressing can provide a refreshing and healthy contrast to the rich quiche.
  2. Roasted Vegetables: Roasted vegetables like asparagus, zucchini, bell peppers, or cherry tomatoes add color, texture, and a savory taste to the meal.
  3. Quinoa Salad: A quinoa salad with diced cucumbers, red onions, feta cheese, and a lemon-herb dressing complements the seafood flavors while offering a gluten-free and nutritious side dish.
  4. Coleslaw: A creamy coleslaw made with a gluten-free dressing can balance the richness of the quiche and provide a satisfying crunch.
  5. Fresh Fruit Platter: A colorful assortment of fresh fruits, such as sliced watermelon, berries, and pineapple, can add a sweet and refreshing touch to the meal.
  6. Sweet Potato Fries: Baked sweet potato fries are a tasty alternative to regular fries, and they go well with the seafood flavors in the quiche.
  7. Steamed or Grilled Vegetables: Lightly steamed or grilled vegetables like broccoli, carrots, or green beans can be a healthy and flavorful accompaniment.
  8. Cauliflower Rice: Instead of regular rice, consider serving cauliflower rice as a gluten-free option to keep the meal light and nutritious.
  9. Garlic Bread (Gluten-Free): If you’d like to have some bread with the meal, look for gluten-free garlic bread options that won’t clash with the quiche’s gluten-free nature.

Make sure to consider any dietary preferences or restrictions of your guests when choosing side dishes. These options should provide a balanced and enjoyable dining experience alongside your gluten-free seafood quiche.

How do I store seafood quiche?

To store seafood quiche properly, follow these steps:

  1. Cool the quiche: Allow the seafood quiche to cool down to room temperature after baking. This helps prevent condensation and sogginess during storage.
  2. Slice and portion: If the quiche is whole, consider slicing it into individual portions. This makes it easier to reheat only the amount you need without affecting the whole quiche.
  3. Wrap the quiche: Wrap the quiche tightly in plastic wrap or aluminum foil. Make sure there are no exposed areas to prevent it from drying out or absorbing odors from the refrigerator.
  4. Place in an airtight container: If you prefer, you can place the wrapped quiche in an airtight container instead of using plastic wrap or foil. This adds an extra layer of protection against odors and moisture.
  5. Label and date: Write the date on the container or the wrap so you can keep track of how long it’s been in the fridge.
  6. Refrigerate promptly: Place the wrapped or containerized quiche in the refrigerator as soon as possible after it has cooled down. It should be refrigerated within two hours of cooking to ensure food safety.
  7. Storage duration: Seafood quiche can typically be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. After that, its quality and safety may begin to deteriorate.
  8. Reheating: When you want to reheat a portion, preheat your oven to around 325°F (160°C). Remove the plastic wrap or foil and place the quiche in the oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until it’s heated through.

Please note that seafood quiche contains perishable ingredients, so it’s essential to follow proper storage and reheating guidelines to maintain food safety and quality. If you’re unsure about the freshness of the quiche, it’s best to err on the side of caution and discard it.

Can I freeze seafood quiche?

Yes, you can freeze seafood quiche. Freezing quiche is a convenient way to preserve it for future consumption, and it can be a time-saving option for busy days when you want a quick and delicious meal. Here are some steps to freeze seafood quiche properly:

  1. Allow the quiche to cool: Let the seafood quiche cool completely before attempting to freeze it. This helps prevent condensation and ice crystals from forming inside the container, which can affect the texture of the quiche when thawed.
  2. Cut into portions (optional): If your seafood quiche is large, you may want to cut it into individual serving portions before freezing. This will make it easier to defrost and reheat only the amount you need.
  3. Wrap well: Wrap the cooled quiche tightly in plastic wrap or aluminum foil. Alternatively, you can use airtight containers or resealable freezer bags designed for freezer storage.
  4. Label and date: Don’t forget to label the packaging with the contents and the date of freezing. This will help you keep track of how long it has been in the freezer and ensure you use it within a reasonable timeframe.
  5. Freeze: Place the wrapped or containerized quiche in the freezer, making sure it is lying flat to avoid any spills or misshaping during freezing.
  6. Thawing and reheating: When you’re ready to enjoy the frozen seafood quiche, remove it from the freezer and let it thaw in the refrigerator overnight. Once thawed, reheat the quiche in the oven at a low temperature (around 300°F or 150°C) until it is heated through. This will help maintain the quiche’s texture and prevent it from becoming soggy.

It’s important to note that while freezing seafood quiche is generally safe and acceptable, the quality may not be the same as freshly baked. The texture of the eggs and other ingredients might change slightly after freezing and thawing. However, it should still be a tasty and convenient option for a quick meal. Enjoy!
