To begin I set my Instant Pot to Saute less for 5 minutes and added in some olive oil before dumping in the lean ground beef.

I broke up the ground beef while it was cooking.

When the Instant Pot turned off the ground beef was still slightly pink and that is okay because it will finish cooking with the other ingredients.

Next I added in some water and used it to deglaze the pot, scraping any brown bits from the bottom.

I added some gluten free penne noodles to the Pot and spread them out evenly on top of the ground beef.  I did not stir.

I like to use the Tinkyada brand of gluten free pasta.

Before putting the lid on the Instant Pot I poured in some Classico Tomato and Basil Pasta Sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, salt and pepper.

I DID NOT STIR the ingredients together.

Then I placed the lid on the Instant Pot, turned the steam release handle to the sealing position and set the Instant Pot to Pressure Cook High for 2 minutes.

Once the Instant Pot was done cooking, I immediately turned the steam release handle to the venting position to finish with a quick release.

Once the lid was off I stirred all the ingredients together well.

Then I added some shredded mozzarella cheddar cheese blend to the Pot.

I stirred in the cheese until it was melted.

  1. New to the instant pot game. Came across your recipe and my family loved it! Only issue I had was my noodles weren't completely done, any suggestions to fix that?

    1. Hi Breanna,
You could try cooking for 1 more minute on high pressure so 3 minutes instead of 2. I think every brand of pasta cooks a little differently. We like ours a little stiff and not too soft. Let me know what happens if you try again for 3 minutes. I have done 3 in my Instant Pot Beef and Noodle recipe and we enjoyed it.
      Thanks,
      Kathleen

  2. Noodles nowhere near done at 2 minutes. Stirred, did another 1 minute, still not done. Added more sauce cause it was getting a bit dry. Cooked another 3 minutes. Hopefully they will be done this time. Impatient hungry children don't like it when mom tells them when dinner will be done and then it isn't!

    1. Hi Kathy,
What brand of noodles did you use? Sorry it took longer to cook for you. The brand I used in the recipe was cooked after the 2 minutes for me so it would be helpful to know what you used so others can make the adjustment as well with that brand.
Thanks for taking the time to comment,
      Kathleen
