To begin making Preacher Cake I mixed together some Bob’s Red Mill 1 to 1 Gluten Free Baking Flour, granulated sugar, baking soda, cinnamon and salt in a mixing bowl.

After stirring the ingredients together I added in large eggs, some crushed pineapple (with juice) and some vanilla extract. At this point you could also add some chopped pecans if you like them.

After stirring the ingredients until well combined, I greased a 9″ x 13″ baking pan.

Next I scraped the batter into the prepared pan.

Then I placed the baking pan into a preheated 350F oven for about 35 – 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center came out clean.

After removing the Preacher Cake from the oven, I allowed it to cool completely in the pan.

When it was time to decorate the cake I used a store bought cream cheese frosting.

It’s one of those timeless cakes that never goes out of style and always receives compliments. The combination of simple ingredients and effortless preparation makes it a dependable recipe you’ll return to often.

How do I store preacher cake?
How to Store Preacher Cake
Because Preacher Cake is topped with cream cheese frosting, it should be stored in the refrigerator to keep it fresh and safe to eat.
In the Refrigerator
Cover the cake tightly with plastic wrap, aluminum foil, or place it in an airtight container. Store it in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. The cake actually becomes even more flavorful after a day or two as the pineapple and spices have time to meld together.
In the Freezer
Preacher Cake freezes well. Wrap individual slices or the entire cake tightly in plastic wrap, followed by a layer of aluminum foil, or place it in a freezer-safe container. Freeze for up to 3 months.
To Thaw
Transfer the cake to the refrigerator and let it thaw overnight. For a quicker option, let individual slices sit at room temperature for 20–30 minutes before serving.
Best Serving Tip
For the best flavor and texture, remove the cake from the refrigerator about 15–20 minutes before serving. This allows the cream cheese frosting to soften slightly and brings out the cake’s rich, moist texture.
