To begin making Spaghetti Sauce I diced up a yellow onion, a green pepper and some celery.

Then I added some olive oil to a large pot and turned the burner to medium heat.

Once the oil was heated I added all the cut up vegetables.

Next I measured in some salt, basil, pepper, oregano and chili peppers.

After about 5 minutes of cooking the vegetables and spices, I added in some tomato juice, tomato paste and ground tomatoes.

After stirring together all the ingredients I covered the sauce slightly and let it come to a slow boil.

Once the sauce boiled I lowered the heat to let it simmer for 4 -5 hours.  I stirred it occasionally.

If serving Meatballs as well, add them after the first hour.

For about the last half hour of cooking time I removed the lid to let the sauce thicken a little bit more.

Serve up this tasty sauce on top of your favourite pasta.

Add some hearty meatballs and you have a complete meal!
